Yarra Trams introduces Sunflower to Tram Stops
Over the weekend, I was pleased to discover the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower feature on priority seat signs at some tram stops around Melbourne. I would like to thank Yarra Trams for recognising that not all disabilities are visible. I hope that this is only the beginning and that we begin to see the sunflower displayed on all pieces of public transport, helping to raise awareness of the meaning of the Sunflower. Please remember if you see someone wearing a sunflower lanyard, wristband or pin on public transport please offer them your seat as they may need it. In Australia, penalties do apply if you refuse to offer your seat to someone with a disability.
